Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU July 2026 Admission

Undergraduate (BA, BCom, BCA, BBA, BSc…)
Passed Class 12 (10+2) from any recognised board (CBSE, ICSE, or State Board). Minimum 45–50% marks for most professional courses; 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD. No upper age limit.
Postgraduate (MA, MCom, MBA, MCA, MSc…)
Bachelor’s degree (minimum 3 years) from a UGC-recognised university. Minimum 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). MBA additionally requires qualifying the OPENMAT entrance test. No entrance exam needed for most PG courses.
Diploma & Certificate programmes
Most certificate courses require Class 10 or 10+2. Most diploma courses need a bachelor’s degree. Some professional certificates may require work experience — check the prospectus for your specific course.
PhD programmes
Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD). Must have qualified UGC-NET/JRF or IGNOU’s own entrance examination, followed by a personal interview.

Provisional Admission Allowed: IGNOU generally permits provisional admission for students awaiting their final degree or mark sheet. A provisional certificate or proof of completion is accepted at the time of application, with the original documents to be submitted once received.
